2019 Judges for State 6A One-Act Contest

Here is the information about the judges for the State Contest on April 25 at the Round Rock ISD Performing Arts Center.

Margaret Valenta-Davis, Houston
Retired
BFA- University of Texas at Austin
MEd- Sam Houston State University
Margaret Valenta Davis holds a BFA in drama Education from the University of Texas at Austin where she worked under Ruth Denney, and an MEd from Sam Houston State University. She taught high school for 17 years and has made four appearances at the UIL State OAP contest placing 2nd twice and 3rd once. She has served as a contestant, director, contest manager and adjudicator for UIL-OAP for over 30 years. Her work has been featured in "The Creative Experience" on Houston's PBS channel. Her students include: Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), Mireille Enos (The Catch, The Killing, World War Z), Charlie Pollock (Urinetown, 9 to 5, Violet, Elmer Gantry) and Eddie Steeples (My Name is Earl, Akeelah and the Bee). After leaving the classroom she worked as an administrator for Klein ISD, Humble ISD and Houston ISD.

Jill Ludington, Canyon

MA in Educational Leadership /WTAMU
Jill Hays Ludington has BA in Theatre and English education and her Masters in Educational Leadership from West Texas A&M University where she now teaches as an adjunct professor and theatre student teacher supervisor. She has had appearances at the state level as an adjudicator, director and student. Participating as a student, director, contest manager, clinician and judge, she is committed to the process and believes in the benefits of UIL to both directors and actors.

Charles Falcon, San Antonio

Eastern Michigan, MA
Charles Falcon is a tenured faculty member in the Department of Theatre and Speech Communication at San Antonio College. He earned his undergraduate degree at Oberlin College in Ohio and his Master of Arts degree from Eastern Michigan University. Charles is an active member of the Texas Educational Theatre Association and the Texas Adjudicator's Association. He was honored to be named Educator of the Year, Community College Division, in January of 2005. Mr. Falcon has judged every level of UIL OAP including the State contest in 2004, 2011, 2013 and 2015. He is a past recipient of the NISOD (National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development) Excellence in Teaching Award (2003) and participated in the Oxford University Round Table in the summer of 2007. Mr. Falcon was honored to be awarded the Yellow Rose of Texas Educator in 2013 and the Robert E. Ziegler "Inspirational Professor" Award in 2015.
