Temple High School's UIL team will compete in the 2019 Bi-District (Districts 11 & 12) UIL One-Act Play competition on Saturday, March 23 at Longview High School's Mickey Melton PAC, 201 E Tomlinson Pkwy 75605 (211 miles away). Admission will be $5 per person and concessions will be available. Audience members may enter and exit only between shows. Shows run back-to-back. Competition order and estimated performance times for Saturday are:
    (1) 10:00 a.m. Rockwall High, August Osage County
    (2) 10:50 a.m. Belton High, The Library
    (3) 11:40 a.m. Longview High, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest  (PAC Facebook Page)
    (4) 12:30 p.m. Copperas Cove High, These Shining Lives
    (5) 1:20 p.m. Rockwall Heath, Mariner
    (6) 2:10 p.m. Temple High, Baby with the Bathwater
Three of the six schools will advance to the Area Contest, which will be Saturday, April 6, at the Midway Performing Arts Center, 800 Hewitt Drive, Hewitt, TX 76643. Temple's rehearsal time in Longview will be on Friday, March 22 at 2:50 p.m.

Critic judges include R. Scott Allen and Paul Davis (both from Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts) and Karen King (theatre professor at Panola College in Carthage). Penny Burdette is serving as contest manager.

Temple's entry, Baby with the Bathwater by Christopher Durang, begins as Helen (Sierra Amalbert) and John (Seth Little) gaze proudly at their new offspring, a bit disappointed that is doesn't speak English and they are too polite to check its sex. So they decide that the child is a girl and name it Daisy — which leads to all manner of future emotional and personality problems when it turns out that Daisy (Anthony Williamson) is actually a boy. The play charts the saga of Daisy's struggle to establish his identity and introduces us to the many zany characters he meets along the way. Durang is an American playwright known for works of outrageous and often absurd comedy.
