Temple advanced to the area competition from bi-district, along with Whitehouse High (The Caucasian Chalk Circle) and Corsicana High (The Scottish Tragedy). The contest was March 25 at Waco University High. There are now only 48 schools remaining in this single-elimination contest, which started with 252 schools.
Emma Tolleson was named Best Actress in the contest. Adara Felix was named to the all-star cast, with Benjamin Clardy receiving an honorable mention all-star cast award. Samuel Little was selected as best technician.
The area contest will be Monday, April 3, at University High School in Waco. The contest begins at 1:30 p.m. Admission is $10 per person. Adjudicators will be Robin Robinson, Marion Castleberry, Eric Lee. From Temple, take the New Road exit and turn right onto New Road. Then just past the school, turn right onto North Old Robinson Road and travel to the parking-lot entrance at the back of the school.
Three of the six schools will advance to the Regional Contest April 6 & 7 in Pasadena.
The April 3 schedule in Waco will be:

2. 2:20 p.m Magnolia High, Moliere
3. 3:10 p.m. Corsicana High, The Scottish Play
4. 4:00 p.m. Temple High, Hedda Gabler
5. 4:50 p.m. Whitehouse High, The Caucasian Chalk Circle
6. 5:40 p.m. Rouse High, David and Lisa
Times are approximate as performances run back-to-back.
