Hedda Gabler, by Henrik Ibsen, has been selected for Temple High School's 2017 entry in the UIL One-Act Play Contest. Temple is the defending state champion in the 5A conference. The play is set in the 1890s in Kristiania (now Olso), Norway.

The read-through was February 8, with rehearsals beginning February 9. The first level of competition (district) is Tuesday, March 21 at College Station High School. Seven District 18-5A schools will compete in the contest, which begins at 2 p.m. Performance order and times include (#1-2:00) Bryan Rudder, (#2-2:50) College Station High, (#3-3:40) Waco University, (#4-4:30) A&M Consolidated, (#5-5:20) Temple High, (#6-6:10) Waco High and (#7-7:00) Bryan High. Performance times are approximate because the shows will run back-to-back. Three of the seven schools will advance to the bi-district contest. Eric Porter of Katy TX will serve as adjudicator.
