14 Temple Students Advance to International Competition

Temple theatre students on the stage where they performed Cabaret three times.

Fourteen Temple theatre students advanced in individual event contests from the state festival to the international competition. Results were announced at the Texas State Thespian Festival on December 3, 2016. The international competition will be June 17-26, 2017, in Lincoln, Nebraska.

In addition to the individual events, Temple was one of two schools asked to perform on the convention's main stage. All three performances of Cabaret were enthusiastically received. Also, Ben Clardy received a best actor award for his part as Emcee in Cabaret, and Emma Tolleson received a Texas Thespian scholarship. The convention was attended by around 7,200 people representing 246 high school Thespian troupes. The annual event moves to the Gaylord Texan next year.
